I have to be perfectly frank with you guys…… I’m not the kind of gal that necessarily has a dream wedding all planned out, but what I do dream of is a hot dog after an open bar and dancing my tail off.
With food trucks being a hot trend right now, the idea of having a food truck at your wedding has been thrown around a lot! So much so that people are dedicating many articles about the logistics of having a food truck or multiple food trucks to cater your wedding. Yes, Yes, Yes, I went down the internet rabbit hole about this. Having hot dogs served at your wedding sounds crazy right! Well just go down memory lane with me for a second.
My first memorable experiences with parties and weddings was out west with my predominantly M
exican-American family in rural New Mexico. If you’ve grown up or lived anywhere that is rural, you may have attended a party or wedding where you are blown away with the amount of celebrating that goes on. I remember my mother’s wedding being completely over when the lovely bride and groom left the building and the dancing is going strong until about five in the morning! These people defiantly worked up an appetite and deserved a tasty snack.
When I brought the idea of this Haute Dog blog idea to my friends I got great food back, sorry I mean feedback. I learned an entirely new term PIZZADOWN! It is basically what it sounds like, you get down on some pizza at the after party once you’re danced out and boozy. Another one of my good friends had a magical story about a wedding she attended. Similar to the rural throw down, almost everyone who attended was a dancing machines. The icing on the cake for this special occasion was the 4th meal provided in to go boxes as the party left the building. If you don’t know what 4th meal is please DM me on IG so I can take you out to lunch. At that time it will technically be second meal but who’s counting anyway?
As much as 4th meal holds a place in my heart, hot dogs are my true weakness. I still dream of them and I once applied to be an Oscar Mayer Wienermobile driver. I’ve had days out on the river thinking of how I might retire and start a floating hotdog stand for the weekend river rats. So I started to put an idea together. At this point you might see how this is coming full circle…..
If you want to wow your guests on your special day, why don’t you have them get Corny on a Coney and have a bon voyage hotdog truck. My dream wedding is now complete, and this is what I have dreamed up:
WIENER’S CIRCLE (truck name)
Menu:
Blown Away …… Windy City style poppy seed bun, relish, pickle spear, tomato
Doggy Style ……. Original ketchup and mustard
Nacho Dogs …….. You get it (NACHO DOG) It ain’t yours till ya buy it
Wing Ding ……….. Buffalo sauce celery leaves and blue cheese crumbles
Caliente Coney ….. Spice Slaw on the dog
If you do not have an upcoming wedding or event to celebrate, you can always celebrate the good ole wiener!
Happy National Hot Dog Day!
